This class is open to all members wishing to learn new weld skills or enhance existing ones, whether it is oxy-fuel, stick, wire, or heliarc welding. Various certifications will be attainable within this class for those wishing to certify, including structural and lagging weld certs. This is an open-entry, open-exit class. You may want to come in for one night only to re-certify or spend a dozen nights practicing for the D1.1 Structural certification.

Power Limited Technician Upgrade Class will be held on October 15, 17, 22 and 24, 2019 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Pat Alfonso will be the instructor for this 16-hour class, which will be held at the Training Center in Room 118.

PLEASE NOTE: A mandatory dues receipt must be provided to the Training Center on the first day of class.

Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing Air Systems (TAB I) Class will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning September 4 through November 11, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. excluding holidays.  Bob Monahan & Jeremy Seymour will be the Instructors for this class, which will be held in Room 116 at the Training Center.

Servicing Environmental Systems I Class will be held on most Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning September 5, 2019 through November 19, 2019 from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Dave Fairbanks and Jesse Heien will be the instructors for this 88-hour class, which will be held in Room 106 at the Training Center. LOAD CALCULATION AND DUCT DESIGN CLASS
BEGINS JUNE 24, 2019

*** IMPORTANT: IN ORDER TO TAKE TEST IN JULY, PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS JUNE 7.  ***


IMPORTANT!  BEFORE the deadline of Friday, June 7, 2019, mail:
1. Notarized application;
2. Check (Ventilation $82.50 / Warm Air $82.50 each); and
3. Apply $.65 postage to your envelope.
Again, the application/check must reach 375 Jackson Street, Suite 220, Saint Paul, MN 55101-1806 by Friday, June 7, 2019, so be sure to leave time for delivery. 

This 16-hour class will focus on the proper method to calculate heat loss for a residential home using a Manual J workbook and spreadsheet.  Information from the spreadsheet will be used to calculate the heat loss for each room, and the entire house.  Duct design will incorporate information from the heat loss spreadsheet to design a duct system to distribute the correct amount of air to each room to satisfy the load.  NOTE: This class qualifies for NATE Continuing Education Hours.

We have scheduled a Load Calculation and Duct Design class to run Monday evenings on June 24 and July 8, 15, and 22 at the Training Center, Room 124, from 4:30-8:30PM with Mario Salute.  A current dues receipt is mandatory to attend class.

Smoke Control Technician

Successful completion of this 16-hour class and the included exam will certify you as a National Energy Management Institute (NEMI) Smoke Control Technician.  This class is intended for TAB professionals who are proficient in controls, smoke management systems and stairway pressurization.  In order to qualify to sit for the exam, you must have the FLS Level One Technician certification (now known as Fire and Smoke Damper Level One Technician).

Jon Knudson and Rich Campanaro will be co-instructing this 16-hour class.

A mandatory current dues receipt must be presented on the first day of class.

Estimating and Project Management 
Mondays and Wednesdays - APRIL 10, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, MAY 1 and 6, 2019

Instructor Steve Miller will design this class to participants' desired areas of interest/growth.

Estimating – This class is designed as an introduction to estimating HVAC type work.  Course content will include instruction on preparing estimates, job “takeoff” accuracy, estimating labor and material costs, productivity variables, labor factors for different building types overhead and markup, etc.

Project Management – This class is designed to be an introduction to developing basic project management skills.  Becoming a successful project manager takes plenty of on-the-job experience.  Course content includes management and communications, construction documents, controlling costs, scheduling, productivity, legal considerations, budget estimating, project completion, etc.
