Gas Piping Installation

4-Day Class for Gas Piping Installation

This is the hands on portion of the gas piping; we will work with copper, sweging and brazing.  It will give you the skills in threading, flaring copper, and CSST pipe. We will also do some code work.

This 16-hour class will include the Gastite® and Wardflex® training programs as put on by the manufacturer’s representatives.  These three brands of corrugated stainless steel tubing (CSST) are the most prevalent in use in this part of the country for flexible fuel gas piping systems.  This class will include hands-on installation of tubing with black pipe fittings on a furnace and a pressure test.  Please note that the installers of gas piping must meet all state and local regulations and code requirements.

Bluebeam will include use of the desktop application and iPad app functionality. 

The students will learn how to mark-up a PDF using the pen, highlighter, callouts, etc. inside Bluebeam. 

They will learn visual searches, counts and use of the common measurement tools. 

The students will also learn how to customize documents using the cut content feature.

There are a limited number of openings and they will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

This class is open to all members wishing to learn how to weld Stainless Steel and Aluminum.  It will also lead into finishing/ polishing stainless steel for kitchen equipment.

Power Limited Technician Upgrade Class will be held on 1/21, 1/23, 1/28, 1/30 (T and TH) from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m.

You must attend all four days to renew your license. Jeff Steiner will be the instructor for this 16-hour class.

Upon arriving at the Training Center, enter through Door #2 and go to Room 118.

PLEASE NOTE: A mandatory dues receipt must be provided to the Training Center on the first day of class.

If you have NOT yet sent your application in, please do the following:

·   If you plan to take both the WARM AIR and VENTILATION tests, please do this: 1. don't circle the type of test yet; 2. complete application; 3. make a copy of the application; 4. circle WARM AIR on one application; 5. circle VENTILATION on the other; 6. include one combined check for both; 7. If you have a transcript for related schooling, please include it--it is helpful to their committee's approval process if they have as much information as possible.

·   Make a copy for your own records.

·   Make sure you provide enough postage!

If you have already submitted your application without doing the above, don't worry.  The above process just makes it more streamlined for their office workflow.

 This 16-hour class will focus on the proper method to calculate heat loss for a residential home using a Manual J workbook and spreadsheet.  Information from the spreadsheet will be used to calculate the heat loss for each room, and the entire house.  Duct design will incorporate information from the heat loss spreadsheet to design a duct system to distribute the correct amount of air to each room to satisfy the load.  NOTE: This class qualifies for NATE Continuing Education Hours.

 We have scheduled a Load Calculation and Duct Design class to run four Wednesday evenings on 12/18, 1/8, 1/15 & 1/22 at the Training Center, Room 118, from 4:30 - 8:30 PM with Mario Salute.  A current dues receipt is mandatory to attend class.  WARM AIR focus is on the first 2 nights of class; VENTILATION focus is on the last two nights of class. Also note that a $100 check made payable to METRO JATC to hold your place in class is required but you will receive it back when you complete all four days.  Please place your name and class J-LOAD in the memo and send to ATTN: JANA at METRO JATC, 3554 White Bear Ave. N., White Bear Lake, MN 55110
